About the Diploma
The next time you pop an antibiotic, think about this – who created it? What goes into that brightly coloured capsule? And how should you take it – in pill, capsule or liquid form? If you have a natural curiosity for such medical brain teasers, sign up for our Diploma in Pharmacy Science (PHARM).
This diploma offers a broad-based training in biological, chemical and pharmaceutical sciences. The modules will cover topics ranging from anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology to drug manufacturing, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and clinical trials.
You will also learn how to run pharmacies through modules such as pharmacy practice, pharmacy management and logistics.
In your final year, an exclusive one-year training stint with the Pharmacy Department of the National University Hospital will give you the added edge. This extensive internship will feature attachments with pharmacies in the cancer centre and satellite wards, the clinical trials unit, the aseptic dispensing and compounding lab, and others – all designed to get you learning directly from practising doctors and pharmacists!
Finally, you will get to take up a research project based on pharmacy practice as well as an elective in either Nutraceuticals & Functional Foods or Complementary Medicine & Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Career Prospects
Due to the shortage of qualified pharmacy technicians, you will be in high demand upon graduation! Your hands-on training with NUH will ensure that you are career-ready. What’s more, you can become a regulatory executive or even an entrepreneur of healthcare products and services! You can also work with clinical research organisations and pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lily and GlaxoSmithKline.

You will be able to pursue degrees in pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, chemistry, life science, biological science, biomedical science, medicine and dentistry as well as other healthcare-related courses at universities both locally and abroad.
