Giving you that something Xtra
About the Diploma
For many years, Singapore has prided herself as a Garden City. But with the increasing number of sleek structures popping up all over the island, that’s going to be a challenge.
It’s not a challenge for just anyone though. You need to have an eye for beauty and a love for nature! You should also arm yourself with our Diploma in Landscape Design & Horticulture (LDH) which will train you to craft green landscapes amidst our urban sprawl.
The course combines landscape design, plant science and horticulture management – making it the only diploma-level course of its kind here!
As an LDH student, you will pick up skills in landscape studio design, project management and park management. You will also learn about the anatomy, pathology, genetics and breeding of plants under the plant science component of this course. The design component will cover the use of IT applications in landscape design and model-building.
You will also spend many happy hours at the learning park at Clementi Woods and the Botanic Gardens where you will get to hone your horticultural and project management skills under the guidance of industry experts from the National Parks Board.
Want more? Well, your training will prepare you to take up an additional Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) Certificate in Landscape Operations upon graduation!
Career Prospects
The two integrated resorts, three waterfront gardens at Marina Bay, and all those golf courses, country clubs, hotels and property developments are eager to tap your green fingers. Consider becoming a landscape designer, landscape project executive, park officer, horticulturist or nursery supervisor. Or if you’re the entrepreneurial sort, why not set up your own landscape design firm?
