Request for off-air recordings for teaching purposes

Staff may request the Library to record a programme shown on the TV for the purpose of teaching.  This provision in the Copyright Act allows single copies of broadcast programmes i.e. sound, television or cable to be copied only for use in a course of instruction (Section 115).

To request Library to do the recording:

Requests for recording the program can be made on the Off-Air Recording Form before the date of the screening on TV.
To access the form, go to Staff Intranet > Applications > Lib Copyright Online database > Get > Off-Air Recordings Form

If you or your School wishes to do your own video-recording, you may modify the same form for use. Please retain the records for at least 4 years for inspection by copyright licensing bodies or other authorities.
