The Library provides a wide range of facilities at the Lifestyle Library and Academic Library. Enhancing students' learning experience In the Lifestyle Library, users can listen to music while reading the latest magazines, or watch movies, documentaries and lifestyle videos at the Video Zone. They can even enjoy programmes from the Football Channel/ESPN channels at the mini-theatrette. Programmes from Channel NewsAsia, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living, History, National Geographic and MediaCorp’s free-to-air channels provide students with another dimension of knowledge to expand their horizons. The Lifestyle Library also features an Internet Café , where students can surf the Net while enjoying a cup of bubble tea, as well as a Board Games Zone, where games such as Monopoly, Risk, Blokus and Scrabble help students develop their creativity, sharpen their minds, improve their vocabulary and exercise their problem solving skills. Preparing students for success To add value to students’ learning experience, a Wealth Creation InfoCentre and Virtual Investment Room was set up in 2008. By developing students’ financial literacy and investment skills, the facilities aim is to groom students to become prudent and confident investors. Here, students can access a comprehensive range of books, periodicals and media covering personal finance, financial planning, portfolio management, stocks & shares and real estate investments. Students are also provided with ample opportunities for hands-on practice using simulated investment programs and financial databases/resources such as Bloomberg Financial Services. Frequently, speakers from the industry are invited to give talks on money management and investment. The Library also features the Lien Ying Chow Gallery – built to commemorate one of NP’s significant founders. It showcases story panels highlighting Dr Lien’s rags-to-riches story, his legendary business acumen, services to the country, commitment to education and passion for community service.
