The School of Interdisciplinary Studies, in collaboration with the Human Library Singapore and the Lien Ying Chow Library, organised its third instalment of the Heroes Seminar from 5th-9th December 2011. The second week of the seminar took place on 16th -20th January 2012.
The Heroes Seminar is designed to have students engage individuals from the community who have made significant contributions to nation-building. The theme for this year is 'Active Citizenry' and invited guests served as examples of active citizens from across society. The guests took the roles of ‘living books’ and had close conversations with small groups of students.
The Human Library event featured the largest number of 'living books' that reached out to the biggest number of 'readers'. A total of 66 'living books' were available for 'loan' to about 2,000 final-year students who were taking the World Issues: A Singapore Perspective (WISP) module.
