 Maths Carnival 2011

Check out the Maths Carnival facebook community buzz !!

Feel the EXCITEMENT we had during MATHS CARNIVAL 2011 !! Watch us at YouTube !

In the Maths Carnival journey with Captain Jack Arrow, Secondary 3 students faced many challenging "Arithmetic Tides" in "The Quest for the Fountain of Wisdom."

For example, by using the calculation of velocity, students determined if a lost crew was still alive. While using trigonometry, students were able to rescue Captain Jack Arrow’s parrot which was found crippled at the top of the ship’s mast.

Maths is here to save the world !!!

Wow! Trigonometry is so useful !

Let's see who can build the tallest tower !

Hmm... This puzzle is hard to crack.

Students also sat for an on-line Maths Proficiency Test where each student received a certificate with detailed analysis of his/her mathematics proficiency. Prizes were given to the top three students.

Not to be left out, the school teachers themselves attended a fun and engaging Teachers’ Enrichment Workshop entitled "Experiential Learning through 'Fun' Games and Activities". This workshop adopted the experiential learning model using games and activities that were specially designed to engage the mind and body. The games were successful in evoking positive emotional responses in students to enhance their mathematical skills and teamwork.

Maths Carnival participants did not just "learn to play" the activities but at the same time "played to learn".

Yippee !! I love this MATHS CARNIVAL !!!
