Every day, during the week of 24-28 January 2011, students taking the module, Idea Jumpstart, participated in the Jumpstart Challenge - a full-day break-out session modelled after the hugely popular TV reality series, "The Apprentice". This challenge marked the culmination of 10 weeks of learning and constituted 35% of the students' overall grades for the module.

Constructing and designing the
prototypes of the solutions.

The challenge began with a real-life problem being posed to the students and they needed to identify the underlying root cause of the problem, as well as generate creative and effective solutions for it. But it wasn't enough for students to just brainstorm on probable solutions! They also had to survey the market to ensure the viability of and demand for their chosen solution.
To add to the excitement, students were randomly given different types of materials and resources which they had to use to build the prototype of their solution. Creativity abounded as students strove to conceptualise and design the best prototype of their ideal solution, in a tight race against the clock!
