 WISP HEROES SEMINAR

The WISP (World Issues- A Singapore Perspective) module team organised a Heroes Seminar on 19 May 2009 for about 2,000 students. In light of regional and global developments, the Heroes seminar sought to foster understanding among students regarding the sacrifices required to maintain Singapore's security.  The seminar and panel speakers were LG (Ret) Winston Choo, BG Tan Chuan Jin, and LTA Kok Khew Fai.

Some highlights of the presentation included LTA Kok's personal account of how he saved the life of a fellow NS man during a live grenade field exercise. This heroic act by LTA Kok, due to his overwhelming concern for the safety of others, was an inspiring experience for the students. Another highlight was the Question and Answer session, where issues raised included the rationale for serving NS (National Service), whether women should be enlisted for NS, and the security threats facing Singapore.
