JAPANESE LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAMME
OSAKA UNIVERSITY 

Since 2004, Enhancement Programme Japanese (EPJ) students have been participating in a language training trip to Osaka as part of an exchange programme with Osaka University. From 2 to 13 October, yet another batch of 10 NP students from EP Intermediate 201 got to participate in this programme at Osaka University.

Students took three-hour Japanese language lessons in the morning and afternoon throughout  their stay in Osaka. These lessons were developed exclusively for NP students by Osaka University, and they featured the latest language pedagogy used by professional teachers. Each session had several teaching assistants as practice partners to facilitate better learning.

In the afternoon at Osaka University, NP students participated in cultural activities. They experienced a Japanese tea ceremony, and were exposed to traditional  instruments and archery. There were also  Udon making sessions, kimono wearing sessions and bon odri (Japanese folk dance).

Students were given an opportunity to experience the traditional Japanese lifestyle by spending a weekend with a Japanese family in their home.
