Certificate in Business (CIB) – Specially Created for Current Year 1 Students in Non-Business Related Diploma Programmes
Jointly offered by the School of BA and School of IS, CIB is specially created for students in non-business related diplomas with a keen interest in business. It provides students with a basic understanding of the business environment and how a business and its critical resources are managed. Non-business students acquire a basic understanding of business practices, management and operations.
This programme consists of 3 compulsory modules: Understanding Financial Statements, Principles of Management and Business and the Economy. In addition, students opt to do another two relevant electives such as Starting a Business, Introduction to Services Marketing and Entrepreneur and the Law.
CIB will enable students graduating in a non-business diploma to function better in a business environment. It will also give students a good head start if they wish to pursue a business degree.
As this requires students to take up additional study load, students should score a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in their first year of study in Ngee Ann. This will ensure that students are able to cope and do well in CIB as well as in their own diploma programmes.
For interested eligible year 1 students (other than ECH and CPEE), do take a look at these CIB presentation slides and attend the CIB briefing on 18 Jan 2012, Wednesday, 5pm, at Blk 53-04-0008. Refer to CIB - Module Synopsis to find out little more about the CIB modules you will be taking.
