EP Basic Bahasa Melayu 101 module

Students learn basic Malay sentence structures, verbs, adjectives and vocabulary. They get to experience listening, speaking, reading and writing in Malay through a variety of experiential learning activities such as ordinal and cardinal number ball games, through shopping trip and neighborly role-play, SMS Match-Body-Description activities, traditional games etc. Throughout the course, they are exposed to various teaching resources such as word cards, pictures and videos too.

In this module, students are immersed and exposed to the Malay culture as a form of learning the language. Here’s what they will be able to do by the end of the semester:

Students write a scripted dialogue and act in role-play based on a scenario. They get to be in the spotlight to showcase the use of appropriate Malay vocabulary, expression, culture and tradition. Students bring in costumes, props and other visual elements for an engaging performance!	Students make a trip to Geylang Serai to explore and document the rich Malay cultural heritage. They make casual conversational small talk as they interact with the people on the streets.
