2. Where can I find out more about the IS modules?
You can find such information at:
3. What is the I&E in Action module all about?
The aim of the Innovation & Enterprise in Action module is to nurture innovation and enterprise traits through experiential learning. It empowers students to initiate, create and take charge of their own learning experience. Students will choose one from five pathways:
- I&E in Action: Community
- I&E in Action: Environment
- I&E in Action: Entrepreneurship
- I&E in Action: Events Management
- I&E in Action: Health /Lifestyle Management
to display their spirit of innovation and enterprise in an extended activity. Each pathway allows students to choose a focus. Working in teams, students will be challenged to think out of the box, take risks, manage uncertainties, tap their inner resources and test their interpersonal and team skills to the limit as the module focuses on self development in the entire experiential engagement.
4. Are the I & E in Action Modules Pass/Fail modules?
Yes.
5. Based on the ENLM framework above, can I take two foreign languages at sub-level 2.1?
No. At sub-level 2.1, you can take only one foreign language module out of the two IS General modules enrolled.
6. Can I take a foreign language module if I have already passed the same foreign language module in the Enhancement Program (EP)?
No. For example, if you have already passed Basic Japanese under EP, then you are not allowed to enrol for the same language, i.e. Basic Conversational Japanese (BCJ). However, you are allowed to enrol for a different language, such as German (BCG), French (BCF) or Spanish (BCS).
7. Are all modules offered for the semester?
Most modules are offered unless resources do not permit or there is a lack of student demand for the module.
8. Are there any modules which have been made equivalent to others?
Yes. These four modules are equivalent to each other – Intercultural Communication (CUCOM), Insight into China (ICHINA), Perspectives on China (PCHINA) and China: An Overseas Experience (1CHEXP). This means that you can only take ONE of these four modules throughout your education in Ngee Ann. If you have taken any one of these modules, you are not allowed to take up any of the remaining three.
Students from ACC, BFS, BS, BIT and TRM have not been blocked off from 1 CHEXP. Thus if you are a student from ACC, BFS, BS, BIT and TRM, you will be able to enrol into any ONE of the 3 equivalent IS modules ( CUCOM, ICHINA and PCHINA ). If you have taken one of these 3 modules, then you will not be allowed to take up any of the remainder two modules.
