Not one but two IT Leaders Awards for Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of InfoComm Technology

An alumnus and a final-year student of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s (NP) School of InfoComm Technology, were awarded the “SCS Young IT Professional of the Year 2012” and “IT Youth 2012” award respectively by The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) in its annual IT Leaders Awards on 2 March 2012.

Kelly Choo, co-founder and Business Development Director of Brandtology, a leading company dealing with online and social media intelligence, was conferred “Young IT Professional of the Year” for his notable contributions to the IT industry and significant IT innovations in Singapore. Brandtology made headlines last year when it was invested by Australian Media Monitors for a 8-figure sum.

The 2011 and 2009 awards also went to our alumni – Douglas Gan (co-founder and former CEO of ShowNearby Pte Ltd) and Rakesh Gupta (co-founder and CEO of Heulab Pte Ltd) respectively.

Nicholas Ooi, on the other hand, is a final-year NP student who joined the polytechnic through the ITE route. This late bloomer is both a software developer and technopreneur. His company, “Towards Technology” has completed over 20 projects. Nicholas is passionate about IT and has shown exemplary leadership to promote IT among his peers. For this he was awarded the “IT Youth of the Year”.
