Our school promotes professional certifications among staff and students as part of its overall strategic plan. The professional certification programme provides our students with value-added recognition for their technical skills, build up their self-esteem, self-confidence and enhances their marketability with potential employers. For companies, certification provides an objective and reliable benchmark in hiring IT professionals. Some companies had already integrated certification into their hiring decisions.
Microsoft Certification Programme
The Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) Examination is internationally recognised as having the skill to successfully implement a Microsoft product or technology such as Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server.
Microsoft has offered 200 subsidised vouchers to Ngee Ann students to sit for the MCP certification exam in 2003 at only $72 each (Microsoft subsidised $153 from the normal fee of $225).
Professional JAVA Certification Programme
The objective of this programme is to raise the professional standing of our courses and students.
The Java Programmer's Certification Examination is internationally recognised as having achieved a professional standing as a competent Java programmer and is well sought after by Industry in Singapore and world wide. The standard and recognition of this examination is maintained by SUN Microsystems.
This professional certification examination is well known to be very tough to pass. The world-wide passing rate of this examination is known to be around 30%. In year 2000 and 2001, we have sent our students to take this examination under the leadership of our teaching staff and our passing rates were 50%and 90% respectively.
CompTIA Certification Programme
Representing more than 8,000 computing and communications companies, CompTIA helps its members stay competitive and profitable by providing vendor-neutral standards in certification, e-commerce, customer service, and workforce development to meet these industry-wide challenges.
The Network+ certification will certify that the successful candidates know the layers of the OSI model, can describe the features and functions of network components and have skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot basic networking hardware peripherals and protocols.
Students from the Diploma in Information Technology course after completing the three NetPrep modules: Networking Fundamentals, Local Area Network, & Network Architectures will have the option to take the Network+ Certification.
