About the Diploma

Ice Age 3 and Bolt are some examples of recent 3D animated movies that have become larger than life on the silver screen. 3D animation brings fantasy to life, in ways that we may never have imagined before. It is revolutionising our cinematic experience.

If you have a story to tell and want to ‘wow’ millions of people with your creativity, then the Diploma in Multimedia & Animation (MMA) is the course for you.

MMA prepares you for the world of 3D and interactive animation by helping you to communicate your ideas to the world through well-conceptualised, well-designed and entertaining content, services and applications. What’s more, the emphasis on compiling a professional portfolio helps ensure that you will be well-prepared for an exciting career in the creative industry.

Gain a strong grounding of skills interactive and digital media professionals need. Unique to the course is a balanced foundation in the arts, design and digital media technologies in the first year. In the second year, you can specialise in either Digital Animation or Interactive Media (entertainment-rich media). In your final year, your expertise will be further developed through production and project management in our own production studio where you will be engaged in all areas from concept to budgeting and implementation - skills that will serve you well when you enter the job market or choose to become an entrepreneur.

You will benefit from ICT’s close links with industry partners like the Singapore Animators Connection and the Media Development Authority of Singapore – who work alongside the School to design the course and ensure that you will have access to the latest trends and developments in the creative industry.

Career Prospects

By nurturing your talent in conceptualising and development skills, MMA prepares you for jobs as an entertainment-rich interactive media designer/developer, visual interface designer, 2D and 3D animator, 3D modeller and rigger, just to name a few. You will be well-equipped to carve a name for yourself by applying your newly-acquired skills to the world of 2D or 3D animation in television or movies, video, e-learning, PC online as well as interactive arts and edutainment.

You might just find yourself working with international corporations like Pixar, Lucasfilm or DreamWorks in the future! Or you might find yourself starting up a high-potential creative business, developing your own interactive or digital media titles.

Further Studies

You can pursue further studies in the creative field with universities such as the National University of Singapore (Communications & New Media), Nanyang Technological University (Art, Design and Media), James Cook University, Australia (New Media Arts), RMIT, Digipen Institute of Technology (Production Animation) and Sheridan College (Animation).
