What Our Students/Alumni Say

Jia Xuan

The NP–SMU University Pathway Programme opened doors to university life early, giving me a firsthand experience of its academic structure, courses, and student culture. It sparked new interests, strengthened my critical thinking, and boosted my confidence in managing university-level learning. This journey has been truly inspiring, preparing me to approach future academic challenges with curiosity and enthusiasm, while fast-tracking my degree completion.

Yen Yi

The diverse and practical electives at ICT allowed me to discover new interests and apply what I learned to real-world contexts. These experiences greatly benefited my Final Year Project and influenced the direction of my career path.

Sch of ICT graduate, Imzumi Chia

My time at NP was a fulfilling journey that paved the way for my career. The challenging yet enriching curriculum not only expanded my knowledge but also played a pivotal role in refining my character.

Sch of ICT graduate, Taufiq Mohammed

My internship at GovTech was eye-opening as it allowed me to see firsthand how building mobile applications such as SingPass and anti-scam app Scamshield can benefit the community. I hope to create solutions that help others.

Sch of ICT graduate, Aaron Tan

One of the best decisions I made was joining ICT. Not only did I become a better programmer, but I also developed leadership skills and a business owner’s mindset during my time at NP. Thanks to ICT, I had the opportunity to participate in the WorldSkills competition, an experience that has made a significant impact in my life.

Sch of ICT graduate, Elicia Ng

My internship provided a holistic understanding of the creation process, helping me develop more practical and intuitive designs. Through IM, I learnt that design goes beyond aesthetics; it must also be functional and meet the needs of those who require it the most.

Industry Partnerships

Industry Review

We are glad to partner NP to create an ecosystem for students and staff to chart their learning pathways and build an avenue for knowledge exchange. This helps us to stay at the forefront of industry developments.

Technology has been a lifeline during the pandemic, keeping businesses open, students learning, social lives connected and essential services flowing, and it will continue to be the backbone of society as we pivot to the new digital reality. Standing at the forefront of today’s tech-driven reality, Dell Technologies is excited to partner with NP to nurture the next generation of young talents who will drive growth and improve lives via technology in our digital future.”

As more companies accelerate their digital transformation efforts, the tech talent crunch has become a significant challenge. We deeply value the partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic on this very meaningful Technology Young Talent Programme which will contribute significantly towards tackling this issue. Every internship under the programme is customised according to a student’s strengths and area of study – which is time consuming to do – but we feel that this is worthwhile in order to develop the right tech talent. We look forward to welcoming our interns and hope to subsequently grow the pool of students under the programme.

Highlights

Banking on Real-world Learning

Twenty-six Information Technology students were offered internship opportunities with OCBC, under the bank’s Technology Young Talent Programme. During a hackathon jointly organised by OCBC and NP, they impressed the judging panel with solutions to enhance the functionality of banking applications, such as securing bank transfers. Throughout the internship, the students will benefit from career mentoring and a curated learning experience, aimed at deepening their core skills and exposing them to the latest web technologies.

Impactful Internships

Ellappan Keerthivasan with OCBC logo

I was drawn to the OCBC Technology Young Talent programme as it offers a one-year curated internship experience with exposure to technology areas of my interest. Since then, I’ve honed technical and soft skills like networking and project management; and even received personalised mentorship in data engineering as well as valuable career insights. To top it off, I’ve learnt more about state-of-the-art technologies including the world’s first enterprise data cloud system, Cloudera, and data governance tools such as Apache Rangers.

Information Technology graduate, Goh Wei Chong

This programme has allowed me to tackle real-world issues using tech. Every new project required me to explore new areas in tech outside my technical specialisation such as log management, Android app development, as well as the use of Arduino boards and circuits. I joined the internship with an open mind and took it as an opportunity to learn and experience as many new things as possible.
