At AISIG, students explore the applications of AI and Data Science, with the goal of instilling passion in everyone, in applying AI in various courses/domains.

AISIG aims to reach out and collaborate with interest groups throughout Ngee Ann Polytechnic showing the potential of what AI and Data Science can offer.

In AISIG, data-science related workshops are hosted, such as Data Visualization, building of Machine Learning models. AISIG also organizes competitions as well as events/collaborations with external partners or institutions in the area of artificial intelligence and data science. For example, AISIG had collaborated with ShenZhen Polytechnic to conduct a PowerBI workshop on Data Visualization.

   

Amphibi Studio is a student interest group focused on helping students make the best game they can! Whether you want to make a cool, pretty or fun game, Amphibi Studio will teach students the skills and knowledge that can make that happen.

 

Amphibi hosts frequent game nights; students get to explore various games and how they work. Game nights are also fun hanging around sessions for its members to gather and play some party games together, thereby building camaraderie with one another. Amphibi also organizes game jams to challenge the members to see what kind of game they are able to make. Workshops are sometimes held to build up the knowledge and familiarization in members with game engines and development tools such as Unity. 

 

In essence, Amphibi Studio aims to create a fun experience for all its members, while allowing them to learn the essentials of game design and development.

 

   

 

 

The DotSIG aims to encourage and hone creativity skills in the school, through many different forms of art.

In the DotSIG, interactive brainstorming sessions are held, where club members brainstorm together and put their knowledge to use by actively world building with their artwork creations. The DotSIG also hosts game sessions to allow members to bond with each other and unwind from school.

Frequent drawing sessions are held, such as figure drawing, gesture drawing. Gesture drawings allow the sharpening of eye-hand coordination by learning how to judge shapes and proportions, and be able to capture the overall look and pose of a model without much details.

The DotSIG encourages its members to pit their artistic skills further through participation in competitions, for example Inktober, which is an annual month-long art challenge with thousands of participants worldwide.

The DotSIG hopes that through its activities, it can improve the way the club members perceive objects, both in real life and virtual, interact with like-minded people to share and express their creative works. It also hopes to encourage members to explore and be creative in whatever they do. 

           

The cross-polytechnic GIT SIG is a collaboration across all 5 polytechnics (TP, SP, NP, NYP, RP), with the aim to mark the efforts and commitment in the polytechnics for the girls in the technology-related Diplomas. 
GIT SIG hopes to empower girls in tech to put their knowledge learnt in class into application, be exposed to real-world technical problems in the industry, and deepen their technical skills through this experience. Ultimately, GIT SIG’s goal is to nurture a greater pool of female talents in Singapore, for Singapore. 

      

ICT society aims to bring ICT students together to create fun and fulfilling memories for the student population during their three years at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Students will have opportunities to run events such as camps, comm serve events, and flagship events to experience lessons in leadership, teamwork and service that are an invaluable part in shaping them to be more competent in the future. These experiences help students to gain confidence and enable them to be more competent in their future journey whether they further their studies or start their careers. Through these events, ICT Society creates opportunities for students to foster deeper ties with each other and network across diplomas when they come together to work together on projects and events and leave ICT with a lifetime of good memories.

NullSec is a Cybersecurity-focused special interest group, in which members can take part in many different workshops and activities to further their knowledge in various cybersecurity fields.

 

On top of conducting workshops focused on cyber security related skills, such as securely executing untested code, penetration testing, NullSec also organizes cybersecurity events/competitions such as Youth Cyber Exploration Programme (YCEP), also known as Hack N' Flag, in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency (CSA).

 

   

 

NullSec members actively seek out and participate in Capture-The-Flat (CTF) competitions. Cyber Defenders Discovery Camp (CDDC) by Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), Govware CTF, Lag and Crash (LNC) by Cyber Youth Singapore are just some of them.

 

   

Orion is an SIG focused on conceptualizing and executing outreach events such as to the secondary school students, to introduce them to the world of infocomm technology and promote the school of ICT. Orion is also the school of ICT’s publicity and outreach team and it manages the school’s social media platforms.

StrITwise® is one of the school’s annual flagship events that Orion hosts for the secondary students. For example, one of its editions: StrITwise® Edge of Automation, is an online competition focused on introducing the participants to the world of Robotic Process Automation where secondary students were trained to automate repetitive mundane tasks using software technology.

Another impactful event that Orion organizes is Amazing Race, which usually poses secondary school students with challenges and diploma-related activities or games, thereby allowing the students gain better understanding of the school.

Movie night sessions in Orion give its members the chance not only to take a break from academic, but also to forge new friendships and/or strengthen existing ones. Discussions among the members about the movie often take place throughout the streaming.

 

         

    

Overflow is a collective of individuals passionate in coding, software development, and technology. Overflow aims to become the breeding ground and the place to gather like-minded people, driven by their common interest in programming and technology, to share their skills and bond with each other.

   


Overflow conducts weekly technology workshops, covering various areas such as Building Discord Bot, Git, Functional Programming, Algorithms, Programming Languages, Computer Vision, Intro to Quantum Computing and many more. During semestral breaks, technology bootcamps would be held in which members can engage in even more exciting technology activities, while having fun bonding with one another. 

Overflow also encourages their members to gain exposure and experience through participation in technology competitions such as Code::XtremeApps, World Robot Olympiad (WRO), Imagine Cup. In addition, Overflow organizes its own technology events too for the school as well as at national level, such as BYTE® Hackz, Poly-ITE Olympiad in Informatics. If you love Programming, Overflow is absolutely the place to go to!

   

 

 

In Photo and Video Special Interest Group (PVSIG), the members share their passion for shooting and videography.

PVSIG often supports ICT in the shooting of photos and videos for its flagship events. Such events include Open House, Freshmen Orientation Camps. In addition, it conducts occasional workshops for fellow ICT students to develop interest and hone skills in photography and videography. 

To level up the members’ photography and videography skills further, PVSIG encourages students at times to participate in photography competitions as well as external workshops and masterclasses to gain further knowledge and exposure.

            

 

 

The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) is the infocomm and digital media society that links students, and tech enthusiasts with professionals in the tech industry.

SCS Student Chapter serves as a bridge to connect young talents from schools with the tech industry. It offers students an invaluable opportunity to be part of the SCS professional body which has been the cornerstone for the community of tech practitioners.

SCS Student Chapter organizes several exciting IT events such as inviting industry speakers to give talks on topics ranging from AI to UI/UX. SCS also hosts its annual competition, SCS Splash Awards, to allow students from all institutions to pit their skills and knowledge in developing tech solutions based on identified themes/problem statements of each year.
