About the Diploma
Gripped by the drama in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy where doctors and nurses struggle to save lives? If you care enough to help others in life, look no further. The Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) prepares you for a fulfilling career as a healthcare professional. It is accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board and graduates practise as a Registered Nurse in Singapore.
More Than Nursing
Nursing, as a globally respected profession, has expanded beyond its traditional scope of work. In addition to regular nursing modules, you will learn about life sciences and the latest developments in biomedical sciences such as cell and molecular biology, clinical trials and drug discovery.
You will also gain knowledge in the fields of biological and behavioural sciences, further equipping you to help patients recover.
Hands-on Training
You will have many opportunities for hands-on training at major healthcare institutions such as government, restructured and private hospitals.
You will also be attached to polyclinics, community hospitals, rehabilitation centres and nursing homes. Such close industry collaboration will put you right at the heart of modern healthcare practice in Singapore.
You will undergo a total of 45 weeks of clinical attachment throughout your three-year course.
Hospital Sponsorship
You may receive a hospital sponsorship and enjoy a monthly allowance of between $850 and $950. Get paid to study!
Global Exposure
If you are keen on experiencing a different culture and work environment, the overseas immersion programme is for you. It will cultivate your adaptability while exposing you to the regional healthcare systems. Our School has strong ties with tertiary institutions, both regionally and globally, such as the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Assumption University in Thailand, University of Sydney, Griffith University (Australia) and Fudan University (China).
You can also take part in community projects as well as go on study visits or adventure camps in countries like China, India, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. Past community projects include health-screening, health education and setting up health assessment centres in these countries.
