Guest Lecturers will be engaged on
a needs basis and are appointed to teach
part of or a full Continuing Education &
Training (CET) module or course. Duties cover lectures,
tutorials, laboratory (where applicable), project supervision
(where applicable), marking, tests, reports, curriculum
development, and other responsibilities as assigned by the
school/division. CET courses can be conducted either in
the evenings or during the day. Guest Lecturers may
propose new course ideas or to teach courses already developed
by themselves.

Duties of a
Visiting Lecturer/International Fellow
Visiting Lecturers and International
Fellows will observe the same working hours and workload
as other academic
staff of the Polytechnic. This includes a minimum of 42-hour
week (5-day workweek) with a teaching time-table of
about 20-23 hours per week. Besides teaching, the job scope
also entails curriculum development, academic
administration, supervising student projects, managing research/industrial
projects, student counselling and
development and executing other special projects as and
when assigned. Contract
Details:
The period of contract is normally for one year with possibility
for renewal. The salary of Visiting Lecturers will be
dependant on the qualifications and experience of the candidates.
International Fellows will be paid an annual gross
salary of $30,000 per annum. On satisfactory completion
of the whole contract, they will receive a gratuity
of 25% of the last monthly instalment for each completed
month of service or part there of. Preferred
Start Date:
The commencement date of the contract should preferably
coincides with the start date of the semester ie. either
end
April or mid October. Candidates should try to report for
work at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester to
facilitate the settling-in process. Housing:
Visiting Lecturers will be provided with a staff apartment
at a highly subsidised rate. The staff apartments are located
next to the campus which is very convenient. The apartment
is furnished with basic furniture. An electric water
heater, a cooker, a refrigerator, a washing machine and
air conditioner are also provided. There are 3 tennis courts,
BBQ pits, children’s playground and a car park in
the complex. Public utility charges (electricity and gas)
are borne by the Visiting Lecturers.
International Fellows (IFs) are provided with shared accommodation,
each with their own room, with 3 to an
apartment. Basic furniture will be provided together with
a refrigerator, a cooker, a washing machine and a water
heater in each apartment. Each of the 3 bedrooms is provided
with an air-condition unit. Public utility charges
(electricity and gas) are borne by the International Fellows
(IFs). Other Benefits
for Visiting Lecturers/International Fellows:

Those appointed on shorter duration will be eligible for
prorated vacation leave • Subsidised
outpatient medical & dental care for the staff member
