Ngee Ann Polytechnic is one of Singapore's leading institutions of higher learning. It offers a wide range of business- and technology- related diploma and advanced diploma programmes.
The Polytechnic's goal is to provide students with a holistic learning experience through a relevant, balanced and value-added curriculum amidst a caring, student-centred environment.
The Ngee Ann Learning Model (NLM)
The Ngee Ann Learning Model (NLM) was introduced in July 2001. Its objective is to provide students with a broad-based, inter-disciplinary education and to ensure that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills for life-long employability in the New Economy. The NLM offers students the flexibility to choose modules beyond their core academic disciplines, thus equipping them with life-skills to effectively manage change.
Academic Structure
Ngee Ann Polytechnic offers 42 full-time courses, through eight academic schools:

The Polytechnic has more than 15,000 full time and part-time students and a vibrant alumni community of around 90,000.
The Organisation
Ngee Ann Polytechnic is managed through several bodies - a Council, Senate, Standing Committees and Advisory Committees.
Council
The supreme governing and executive body of the Polytechnic, it includes the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, the Principal, representatives from Ngee Ann Kongsi and industry partners.
Senate
The Senate is responsible for the academic planning of the Polytechnic. It oversees the curricula and syllabi of the various training programmes to ensure their continued relevance to industry needs.
Standing Committees
Several standing committees are appointed to oversee administration, staff and student discipline, admissions, examinations and scholarships.
Advisory Committees
These are set up in all Schools to advise on the development of the curriculum and to keep courses up-to-date.

Academic Facilities
Ngee Ann students have access to technologically sophisticated classrooms, lecture theatres and laboratories. The Polytechnic's Aquatic Science & Technology Centre is the first in Singapore to research into sophisticated aquaculture systems. The S$2.3 million digital media authoring studio is the first of its kind in Asia and has won awards at international levels. In addition, the School of Engineering houses The Alpha Centre, which is a support centre for engineering students to develop independent thinking and creativity in problem-solving.
Lifestyle Library
Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Lifestyle Library is the first of its kind in an institution of higher learning. The Library departs from conventional norms in terms of scope, content, design and organisation. The Library is a focal point for interaction between staff and students. In addition to academic and research resources, it has a collection of resources ranging in topics from creativity and innovation, sports, hobbies, humour, life skills, health and medical, food and beverages to family life education.
Sports Complex
Ngee Ann Polytechnic has a sports complex equipped with the most up-to-date facilities for various sports and games. Facilities include a Sports Hall for badminton and table-tennis, two weight training rooms, three tennis courts, four multi-purpose playing fields, four squash courts, two netball courts, a 400-metre Polyflex running track, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, four outdoor basketball and volleyball courts. For the more rugged, there is also an Adventure Rope Course.
Other Facilities
The Polytechnic also has a child-care centre and accommodation facilities for visiting lecturers and students.
Close Industry Collaboration
To ensure that courses and students are in tune with current market developments, Ngee Ann Polytechnic maintains close partnerships with industry. Beyond student development, Ngee Ann also uses its manpower, expertise and resources to assist the development of local enterprises, especially the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Ngee Ann Polytechnic offers a wide range of services for students. These include:
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs)
There are more than 100 clubs and societies catering to a wide variety of special interests ranging from academic societies to sports clubs and interest groups. The Polytechnic has in place a CCA award system that encourages and rewards students who participate actively beyond their academic disciplines.
Student Counselling Services
Students can approach full-time counsellors on financial, personal, study-related and family problems. At each school, there is a Student Counselling Committee as well, with a number of trained lecturers and counsellors.
Career Counselling Services
Career counsellors can help students in making career choices and decisions, career planning, career development and managing career conflicts.
Job Placement Services
E-Career fairs, talks and seminars on employment opportunities and life-skills are organised on an annual basis for students.
Student Development and Training
Industrial Training Programme (ITP)
The ITP exposes students to real-life working experiences in actual business environments. The ITP is compulsory for all second-year students of three-year courses and first-year students of two-year courses.
Overseas Industrial Training Programme (OITP)
The OITP exposes students to real-life working environments in overseas countries as well as to foreign cultures. Each year, selected students are offered opportunities to be attached to companies overseas under this programme, for a period of about six to eight weeks.
