CET Academy

You will be required to:

  • Provide administrative support in course advertisements & applications
  • Manage departmental email account, to ensure customer queries are addressed accurately & in a timely manner
  • Handle procurement process including calling for quotations, receiving goods & invoicing
  • Manage Course Evaluation Processing, including collation of statistics & preparation of summaries for reporting
  • Organise corporate & outreach events like graduation ceremonies & orientations

Pre-requisites: 

  • A Diploma from a local polytechnic
  • Highly customer-centric with strong organisational, communication & interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a dynamic environment
  • Have a positive mindset, meticulous & is able to multi-task & work with minimal supervision
  • Prior work experience in course administration, corporate communication & office administration are preferred

Postgraduate Internship Positions

School of Engineering, Electronic & Computer Engineering Division

A) Student Intern - BioMEMs Reactors (Local/Overseas, May - Oct 2012)
Ref: ECE/PG_Intern/BMR

You will be required to fabricate new BioMEMs reactors using Soft Lithography, assemble the fabricated reactors and design circuitry to detect and count bacteria in drinking water. You should have a Bachelor’s Degree specialising in Electronics/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

B) Student Intern - Film Solar Cells (Local/Overseas, May - Oct 2012)
Ref: ECE/PG_Intern/FSC

You will be involved in fabricating novel thin film solar cells. You will also work on modeling of the heterojunctions that exists in these cells. You should have a Bachelor’s Degree specialising in Electronics/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Undergraduate Internship Positions

School of Business & Accountancy

A) Student Intern - Research (Local, May - Jul 2012)
Ref: BA/Intern/Research

You will be required to:

  • Assist the Course Review Teams to gather information in the following areas:
    1. Courses & curriculum offered by the other Polytechnics & at the universities
    2. Teaching & learning strategies adopted by the other Polytechnics & local universities
    3. Entry requirements for Poly students for various courses at the local universities
  • Conduct secondary research on job requirements from the industry and new emerging trends in the respective industries relevant to BA
  • Compile, tabulate and compare the above data for Course Review purposes

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Business or related discipline with strong knowledge of MS Excel.

School of Engineering, Building & Environment Division

B) Student Intern - Water Quality Monitoring (Local/Overseas, 1 year)
Ref: BE/Intern/WQM

You will be required to monitor the water quality from local waterways and swimming pools. You will be testing the quality of collected water samples for selected water parameters. You should be an undergraduate in Environmental Engineering or related discipline.

C) Student Intern - Water Quality Testing (Local, 1 year)
Ref: BE/Intern/WQT

You will be required to do:

  • Endurance testing of live shell fish on supermarket shelf using cyclic sprinkling system
  • Testing of photo catalytic application for treatment of sprinkled water for reuse/recycling
  • Water quality analysis
  • Setting up of standard operating parameters for the system

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Advanced Wastewater Treatment Technology in food industry or related discipline.

School of Engineering, Electronic & Computer Engineering Division

You will be required to:

  • Develop software modules in C# to use Emgu CV libraries
  • Develop/test various algorithms to detect human bodies, fiduciary markers, motionlessness, falling, crowding & leaving of designated areas
  • Document developed modules
  • Source code optimisation, refactoring, versioning & maintenance
  • Optimise source code for use on GPU processors

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Software Engineering/Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.

School of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Division

G) Student Intern - Computer Engineering (Local, May - Aug 2012)
Ref: ME/Intern/CE

You will be required to:

  • Set up & develop a communication module for a RFID document tracking system
  • Conceptualise, design & develop a Kinect game for training or rehabilitation
  • Set up & explore the use of a Linux-based embedded system

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Computer Engineering. Knowledge of VB, C#, Java programming and Data-Base data logging will be essential.

H) Student Intern - Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Local, May - Aug 2012)
Ref: ME/Intern/EEE

You will be required to:

  • Assemble the Aerial Vehicle
  • Develop the embedded system software for the flight control
  • Develop the user control interface using visual studio
  • Test the flight characteristic of the aerial vehicle

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Knowledge and experience in the following is preferred:

  • Programming of user-interface using visual studio 2008 or later
  • Embedded system programming to drive smart motors with PID control
  • Tele-operated control of robotic system

School of Health Sciences

I) Student Intern - System (Local, Feb - Dec 2012)
Ref: HS/Intern/System

You will be required to do:

  • Oversee the development of an automated e-Clinical Attachment system, liaise with supplier, do testing & commissioning
  • Ensure smooth scheduling of clinical attachments
  • Provide general administrative support such as data processing, customer service & minutes taking

You should be an undergraduate specialising in Business Computing and Information Technology or related discipline.
