School of Engineering - Building & Environment Division
[Ref: BE/Lecturer/ARC]

A Degree in Architecture with at least 3 years’ industry experience in architectural design or interior design. Competent to plan, develop learning materials, teach and manage student projects in at least three of the following areas:

• Architectural Design Studio
• History & Theory of Architecture
• Design Communications
• Architectural Materials & Technology
• Professional Practice
• City Planning
 
Familiarity with local building design requirements is essential. Good knowledge of Computer Aided Design & Drafting software in AutoCAD, 3D Max, Revit Architecture or Sketch Up will be an advantage.

School of Health Sciences

A Degree in Optometry and registered with the Singapore Optometrists and Optician Board (OOB), with at least 5 years’ post-registration work experience. Post-graduate qualification accepted by OOB, with experience in clinical supervision and at least 3 years' teaching experience will be an advantage.

School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology
[Ref: LSCT/Lecturer/CBE]

A Degree in Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years’ industry experience in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals or related industries. Research/industrial experience in areas related to biopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals and/or post-graduate qualifications will be an advantage.

Competent to teach a wide range of chemical engineering curricula including the following areas:

• Biopharmaceutical Production
• Biopharmaceutical Quality Control & Current Good Manufacturing Practice 
• Occupational Health & Safety

Pre-requisites:

  • A good degree in the relevant discipline with valuable industrial experience and strong network in the industry
  • A team player with strong interpersonal, presentation, communication skills, and conversant in English Language
  • High standards of professionalism and ethics
  • Ability to mentor, nurture and inspire
  • Fresh graduates with no or little industrial experience will be appointed as International Fellows
  • International Fellows should come as singles
  • Be medically fit

Duties of a Visiting Lecturers / International Fellows:

Visiting Lecturers and International Fellows will observe the same working hours and workload as other academic staff of the Polytechnic. This includes a minimum of 42-hour week (5-day workweek) with a teaching time-table of about 20-23 hours per week. Besides teaching, the job scope also entails curriculum development, academic administration, supervising student projects, managing research/industrial projects, student counselling and development and executing other special projects as and when assigned.

Contract Details:

The period of contract is normally for one year with possibility for renewal. The salary of Visiting Lecturers will be dependant on the qualifications and experience of the candidates. International Fellows will be paid an annual gross salary of $31,800 per annum. On satisfactory completion of the whole contract, they will receive a gratuity of 25% of the last monthly instalment for each completed month of service or part there of.

Preferred Start Date:

The commencement date of the contract should preferably coincide with the start date of the semester ie. either mid April or mid October. Candidates should try to report for work at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester to facilitate the settling-in process.

Housing:

Visiting Lecturers and International Fellows will be provided with staff apartments, which are conveniently located next to the campus, at subsidised rates. Each apartment is furnished with basic furniture and electrical appliances, including an electric water heater, a cooker, a refrigerator, a washing machine and an air conditioner.

Other Benefits for Visiting Lecturers / International Fellows:

  • Annual Leave - 21 days. Those appointed on shorter duration will be eligible for prorated vacation leave.
  • Subsidised outpatient medical care for the staff member only.
  • Free economy class air passage and baggage allowance for the staff member only.
  • Free access to a wide range of sports and recreational facilities and activities on campus for the staff member and the family of Visiting Lecturers.
