CMC Students Go On “Business Trip” in China

A nine-day trip organised by Business China Youth Chapter (BCYC) has given two students from the Diploma of Chinese Media & Communication (CMC) more than just a holiday.

Visiting companies such as CapitaLand China, Beijing Beer Ashahi and Master Kung Corporation, the students got to know more about doing business in China.

They also interacted with students at the University of International Business & Economics (UIBE), and had a fruitful discussion on modern Chinese popular culture and social media.

Through their dialogues with the students in China, they realised how cultural background shapes and affects the way people think.

“The experiences were definitely new to me and I get to know more about our similarities and differences with China, specifically Beijing,” said Peh Li Ping.

Of course they didn’t miss out on the tourist attractions. The students went to the Olympic Park, the Great Wall as well as the Forbidden City.

“We even woke up early in the morning to see the flag raising ceremony,” the two recalled.

Besides the good food and all, they feel the trip has given them a better idea about how Singapore companies can expand in China.

Melody Chan believe it was a particularly enriching trip because “we learn about China by really experiencing China”.
