CHS Graduate, Koh Yong Sheng has emerged as one of the two finalists for MediaCorp's nationwide radio deejay talent contest "So You Wanna Be a DJ".
After weeks of tough challenges and eliminations, the 2-part finale at *SCPE Warehouse on 7th and 8th July saw Yong Sheng narrowly edged out of the winner's slot by his bubbly-faced co-finalist He Yi, who took top honours for the cash prize and much coveted 6-month contract with Y.E.S.93.3FM.
Yong Sheng, a self-professed media enthusiast (and shopaholic!) was selected as a finalist for one of the participanting radio stations, Y.E.S. 93.3FM after impressing a panel of 3 judges with a vibrant introduction of himself, a well-handled Q & A session and a recitation of a news flash.
Out of the 800 hopefuls at the initial auditions on 29 May 2011, over a 100 were selected and contested for the Top 8 of Y.E.S.93.3FM.
Being one of the 2 only guys in the finalists of Y.E.S. 93.3FM, Yong Sheng had beaten 6 finalists and made into Top 2. The finalists included students, working adults and even a Part-time DJ of Jia 88.3FM..

Competition aside, this young man has already has his future planned. Yong Sheng has secured a place in Nanyang Technological University's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, after going through the Non-Academic Achievements Interview. He will be starting his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communication Studies in August 2012.
About the contest
"So You Wanna Be A DJ" Competition, is a nationwide DJ search competition in conjunction with Celebrating 75 Years of MediaCorp Radio. This talent contest kicked off with a walk-in audition at Orchard Central on May 29.
32 contestants (eight contestants per radio station) aged between 16 and 29 were selected to compete for a deejay contract with each of the four participating radio stations - Y.E.S 933FM, 987FM, Oli 96.8FM and Ria 89.7FM.
The eight contestants have had a chance to show off their on-air prowess in a weekly hour-long radio shows on each of the four participating radio stations from June. Two contestants were eliminated each week based on the results of listeners' SMS voting as well the scores given by a panel of judges, until only one pair remains.
