Talented in the performing arts and visual arts? Want to pursue your passion in dance, music, theatre or visual arts while preparing for a career in arts management?
That's what Arts Business Management (ABM) students can do with a new Talent in the Arts Grant (TAG)!
Offered annually, TAG supports deserving students to be trained by renowned instructors or attend master classes through a monetary award of up to $5,000 per year.
Meet our very first batch of TAG awardees:
| | | | Soh Rui Yi (performing arts: Latin dance)
Audrey Hepburn could have danced all night in My Fair Lady, but Soh Rui Yi wants to dance all her life. Having attended ballet classes as a little girl, this homegrown talent is definitely a natural on stage. When Rui Yi attended secondary school, she had to hang her dancing shoes temporarily to focus on her studies. But since joining Ngee Ann Polytechnic, she has revived her dream by learning Latin dance. Her ambition? To put her skills to the test by taking part in competitions, going for auditions and performing for the public.

| | | | | | | | Bianca Nikkita Ignaties (visual arts: photography)
A picture speaks a thousand words. So Bianca hopes to use her photography skills for a good cause – to exhibit her own pictures of children with special needs to promote awareness about them. The Talent in the Arts Grant will enable her to take up relevant courses to improve her skills as a photographer to better capture her subjects and realise her dream.

Samantha Yap put her artistic skills to good use by using her art portfolio to gain admission into Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Arts Business Management course via the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE). She is keen to brush up her artistic strokes and hopes to further her studies to realise her ambition of being an art museum curator or an arts manager.

| | | Yong Sok Mun Natalie (performing arts: hip-hop dance and ballet)
Winning the Talent in the Arts Grant is a dream come true for Yong Sok Mun Natalie who has been dancing since the age of seven. Although Natalie is keen to further develop her dancing skills, she has been hampered by a lack of funds to support her classes. The grant is therefore a welcome boost to help her pursue her strong interest in this art. Natalie is so passionate about dancing that she has started a dance group called Siren with her secondary school friends. They have performed at community and charity events. A member of Ngee Ann’s New Revolving Age (NRA) Hip Hop Dance Club, Natalie is looking forward to perfecting her dancing steps.
