Is there a bond obligation? |

Yes. All candidates who take up MOE sponsorship will have to serve a 5-year bond upon graduating from NP and NIE. This includes those who apply and are awarded sponsorship in their second of third year. They will be deployed to teach CL in a primary school. |

How many students will be offered the MOE Teaching Bursary under the CL Teacher Specialisation Scheme? |

Each year, 30 to 40 bursaries will be awarded. Those interested in the teaching bursaries must apply directly to MOE and be selected via an interview conducted jointly by MOE and NP's CHS staff. More details are available at http://www.moe.gov.sg/teach/Olevels.htm. |
|
| 8. |
For those students not offered the MOE bursary, can they still go into teaching? |
|
Students in the Diploma in Chinese Studies course not on MOE Bursary are welcome to apply for teaching even after they graduate. They will be considered in competition with other teaching applicants. |
|
| 9. |
Is this bursary scheme the same as the MOE teaching bursary for "A" Level and degree holders? If not, how different is it? |
|
The CL Teacher Specialisation Scheme sponsors students through their Diploma in Chinese Studies course in NP, as well as their Diploma in Education programme in NIE. For candidates already holding a degree, diploma or "A" level certificate, MOE will only sponsor them for their teacher training programmes in NIE.
