Why do people think, feel and act the way they do? If you’ve always been fascinated by these questions, sign up for the Diploma in Psychology Studies (PCS)! This diploma will provide you with a strong foundation in the study of psychology and give you a head-start in pursuing further studies in this field. You will learn about the different aspects of psychology; including lifespan, social, abnormal, organisational and health psychology. The PCS curriculum is also focused on equipping students with highly practical and relevant professional skills. You will learn to conduct research, facilitate group sessions, plan and implement programmes, and employ psychometric tools in clinical and counselling settings. To further hone your skills, you will work on research projects with industry partners right from your first year and go on an overseas service learning trip in your second year. In your final year, you will get the chance to intern and complete a final year project at government agencies such as the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and Singapore Prison Service; hospitals such as the Singapore General Hospital and the Institute of Mental Health; as well as voluntary welfare organisations such as the Asian Women’s Welfare Association and Family Service Centres. |
With this diploma, you will able to find a job as a programme executive or social work associate at voluntary welfare organisations. You will also be able to work as a research assistant at organisations where you can assist psychologists and conduct social research. With further studies and training, you can become a certified psychologist, social worker or counsellor.
