About the Diploma
Do you want to help children with special needs? Do you have an interest in creating children’s publications?
If so, the Diploma in Child Psychology & Early Education (CPEE) is the course for you.
You will be equipped with a firm foundation in the developmental psychology of young children. CPEE will also provide you with strong understanding of the aspects and techniques of teaching, and the principles underlying quality early childhood education.
In your final year of study, you can specialise in either Early Intervention (Special Needs) or Writing and Publishing. The specialisation in Early Intervention allows you to teach in an inclusive classroom, where special needs children are integrated with other children. The specialisation in Writing and Publishing equips you with in-depth knowledge of how to create publications for children.
Scholarships
The Ministy of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will award scholarships to Ngee Ann students taking programmes in early childhood education. The scholarships, which will cover full tuition fees, text books and laptop allowances, will be awarded to students with good 'O' Level results and CCA.
Career Prospects
You will be able to pursue a career as an early childhood educator with enhanced skills to work with children with special needs. You can also work as a writer for children’s literature or as an executive in family and children services.
Further Studies
Enjoy a customised degree at Ngee Ann campus offered by Wheelock College Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation. You will complete the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Educational Studies and Leadership in two years, including a fiveweek immersion programme in Boston. The degree is internationally accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Singapore citizens and permanent residents need to pay only a tuition fee of $6,800 per year. Various scholarships are available for students in this degree programme.
You can receive up to one semester's exemption when you sign up for relevant degree programmes at the following institutions: • Nanyang Technological University • National University of Singapore

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results and fulfil the aggregate computation requirements.

The aggregate computation for selection is based on grades obtained for English, Mathematics (Grade 1-9), a Humanities subject (Grade 1-9) and two other subjects.
*Candidates must attain the required grade for English as a first language.
Successful candidates are required to pass a medical examination before confirmation of acceptance to the course.
Whilst not comprehensive, the following medical conditions may lead to non-acceptance into the Child Psychology & Early Education (CPEE) course. Candidates who are diagnosed to have such conditions or any other medical conditions are advised to check with the Admissions Office or HMS Office before they apply.
