About the Diploma
Have you got a penchant for the arts? Do you want to make a business or career out of it? Ngee Ann’s unique Diploma in Arts Business Management (ABM) will give you a head start. This course opens doors to exciting opportunities in the growing arts industry. You could liven up the local arts scene by bringing in world-class performances and managing talents. You could also help to market local arts programmes overseas. Better still, be your own boss as an arts entrepreneur!
Jointly offered by the School of Humanities & Social Sciences and the School of Business & Accountancy - Singapore's most established business school - ABM will give you the skills to develop and manage arts enterprises.
You will be exposed to different forms of creative arts such as theatre, music, dance and visual arts. You will also learn to market the creative arts and handle finances for arts organisations.
Right from your first year, you will get industry exposure and coaching from well-known names in the local arts scene. You will enjoy opportunities to gain practical experience by volunteering and interning at major arts events and organisations such as The Esplanade, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the museums.
Overseas study trips to arts centres are also included as part of the curriculum.
In your second year, you will get to choose between two specialisation tracks – Performing Arts Management and Visual Arts Management. The Performing Arts Management track trains you to run major festivals and events while the Visual Arts Management track gives you the know-how to manage galleries and museums.
You will also attend off-campus classes at LASALLE College of the Arts. Over one semester, you will learn to appreciate the practical aspect of different art forms, ranging from theatre to dance or painting to clay modelling.
In your final year, you have the option of doing a final year project or going on an overseas or local internship.
