About the Diploma
Imagine yourself promoting local arts abroad or bringing foreign productions like Broadway musicals into Singapore? Or do you want to be an arts entrepreneur? Then the Diploma in Arts Business Management (ABM) is for you!
Jointly offered by the School of Humanities and the School of Business & Accountancy, ABM gives you the skills to develop arts enterprises in Singapore. You will be introduced to different forms of creative arts such as theatre, music, dance and visual arts. You will also learn to manage talents and artists, market creative arts and handle finances for arts organisations.
You will gain industry exposure and hands-on experience with coaching from practising arts producers, managers and administrators, right from your first year. Our industry partners include The Arts House, Esplanade, National Arts Council, National Museum, Singapore Arts Festival, Singapore Dance Theatre, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and Singapore Tyler Print Institute.
In your second year, you will choose between two tracks – Performing Arts Management or Visual Arts Management. The Performing Arts Management specialisation gives you the skills to run major festivals and events while the Visual Arts Management specialisation trains you to manage galleries and museums.
For your final-year project, you will develop your own enterprise in the field of creative arts, that is, you could promote a particular art form, or run workshops and events.
Career Prospects
With the government’s vision of turning Singapore into a cultural hub, there will be greater demand for professionals who can manage the creative industries. You can enter the fields of arts logistics and financing and become arts managers, distributors and agents, or work for local museums.
