Giving you that something xtra

bullet Business with a heart – the first and only such course in Singapore

bullet Robust curriculum that combines skills in both business and social sciences

bullet Overseas study trips for all students from the first year

About the Diploma

Do you want to run a business that makes money and at the same time, makes lives better for the less fortunate? Well, you will gain the right mix of skills to achieve business and social objectives by enrolling in the Diploma in Business & Social Enterprise (BZSE).

This unique diploma is designed to provide you with business fundamentals in areas like enterprise creation and development, project management and more. You will be able to help non-profit organisations set up businesses, execute local and overseas projects, and learn
how companies create social value through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

What's more, you will get the chance to work with international non-profit organisations and non-governmental organisations such as Gawad Kalinga Hope Initiative (GKHI) and World Vision, and network with award-winning social entrepreneurs.

In your final year, you can work on your own social enterprise project or go on an industry internship. You can intern at established companies such as DBS Bank, Cerebos, and ABR Holdings (Swensen's, Gloria Jean's) as well as national agencies such as Economic Development Board (EDB), Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), and National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). You may also intern at Ngee Ann's own social enterprise, Dialogue in the Dark (DiD), where you will work alongside the visually impaired.

BZSE social entrepreneur mentors

The Diploma in Business & Social Enterprise (BZSE) has a unique learning approach. Students are provided with inspirational social entrepreneurs to be mentors. Some of these are award-winning individuals who have made impact internationally. Given the opportunities to network with and work alongside the range of local and international social entrepreneurs, BZSE students get to learn beyond what textbooks and classroom learning can achieve.  To see the profiles of some social entrepreneurs, click here.

Off the beaten track

bullet BZSE takes off – international study trips

BZSE students have visited the Philippines and Cambodia to conduct field research among the poorer rural communities. During these study trips, they were also given opportunities to observe first hand the work of local non-governmental organisations and interview social entrepreneurs. bullet On the home front

Applying creative learning methodology, students work with local social entrepreneurs to better appreciate successful business models.
