All first-year students of the Diploma in Chinese Media and Communication (CMC) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic are eligible to apply for the SPH Chinese Newspapers Scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student with outstanding GCE ‘O’ Level results and exemplary co-curricular activities each year. The value of each award is $2000.
This year’s scholarship recipient Patricia Wong Xi Wei acknowledged
that the award has motivated her to try her best in everything, and she
now appreciates every learning opportunity. “I learn to take pride in
all the modules I’m taking.”
The first-year CMC student is also
glad that the scholarship helped share her family’s financial burden.
But she humbly added, “I believe everyone is more than good enough to
get a scholarship award.”
Offered by the School of Humanities (HMS), CMC is the first media
studies program in Chinese to be offered at the polytechnic level.
Seventy percent of the course will be conducted in Chinese. Besides
learning the ropes of writing for the Chinese media, students will be
trained in video production, radio production, web design and
copywriting. They will also acquire a good understanding of Chinese
culture and literature.
