Run For My Lunch 2010 raises more than $80,000 for needy youth

On Sunday, 31 January 2010, some 1700 runners congregated at Dalbergia Green at East Coast Park for Run For My Lunch 2010 (RML 2010). The charity run, organised in aid of students from low-income families from the Student Advisory Centre, successfully raised over $80,000 for the beneficiaries.

RML 2010 comprised of four run categories: 6 km Men's Competitive, 6 km Women's Competitive, 3 km Community Run & 1.4 km Kid's Run. The first flag-off was by Mr. Michael Palmer, Advisor to Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, starting off the 6km competitive run for males.

Participants were kept entertained throughout the event with a host of fringe activities such as magic shows, balloon sculpturing, puppet shows, performances by NP's percussion emsemble Barracuda Batucada, HI Club and a musical item by NP Idol, Joanna Yeo.

The brainchild of two students from the Diploma of Psychology and Community Services (PCS), Mr. Yap Feng Kai and Mr. Lim Jian Yang, RML 2010 saw an outpouring of support from students and staff from the various schools in NP, who joined the cause by volunteering themselves or participate in the event.

More photos of RML 2010 and participants' stories can be found at the Official Run For My Lunch Blog

RML 2010 is a Compassionate Youths in Action (CYA) student-initiated project. Formed less than 2 years ago to serve as a platform where students could initiate projects for the benefit of our community, CYA consists of a body of students from NP's School of Humanities.
