 For Secondary Schools 

The School of Business & Accountancy offers a variety of workshops, talks and activity-related programmes for secondary school students and teachers.  The following activities are conducted upon request by schools and subject to availability of staff and venues. A fee may be charged for some programmes.

FOR STUDENTS 

Flagship Events

National Youth Business Challenge (6  & 7 July 2013)
In this competition, student teams will generate earth friendly business concepts and ideas. Student teams in the finals will have the opportunity to market their earth business for 2 days, over the weekend in Changi City Point Shopping Centre. Participants will get the chance to market their businesses for real.

Finance Uncovered Now (FUN) Trail (20th July 2013)
A half-day fun-filled experiential learning engages students in discovering nuggets of information in a "financial" trail around Singapore’s famous Central Business District.

Inaugural National Accounting Festival (NAF), featuring the 10th National Accounting Quiz (NAQ) (18th July 2013)
Our popular annual competition where students strategise and pit their accounting acumen against each other to test their accounting knowledge in a fun and lively atmosphere is back for the 10th year! To commemorate this milestone and to highlight the key developments in the accounting profession, we will be organising the inaugural National Accounting Festival.

Enrichment Programmes
Money $mart Teens (Mo$T)
A  workshop on the planning of personal expenses, importance of saving and how to avoid danger of overspending. 
My Tax Adventure @NP 
A half-day workshop to explore Singapore’s tax system and discover basic concepts of taxation. 
Introduction to M.Y.O.B.
A half-day laboratory session on using this software to record journal transactions and prepare simple financial statements.
DIAL (Discover Accounting as a Life skill)
A 1-hour laboratory session cum talk on basic budgeting concepts.  
Financial Reporting Over the Web
A 1.5-hour talk on using XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) for financial reporting on the Web. 
Entrepreneurship Alliances Programme
This 1-day workshop is designed to cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship in students and provide assistance to secondary schools to set up their own entrepreneurship clubs. There is a follow-up mentorship for 2 months, each session lasting 2 hours weekly.
Spotting $$ Opportunities
Students will learn how to generate business ideas by turning opportunities into feasible businesses after attending this 1.5-hour talk cum workshop. They will learn different idea generation techniques, creativity and innovation.
Branding Yourself
Participants acquire simple branding and marketing principles and learn how to apply these concepts to more effectively market themselves. Participants will learn how to 'package' themselves to project their desired images to their friends, parents, teachers and future employers.
Dealing with Strangers
This talk cum workshop gives an overview on the importance of understanding non-verbal behavior and also addresses some of the ways to develop cross-cultural literacy. Participants will learn why people often perceive and react differently to common issues. Often, the root cause of this can be traced back to cultural differences. 
Logistics Management Game
This is a role-playing-game, with 4 players to a team, playing different roles in a supply chain. Using cost trade-off and lead-time concepts, each team will strive to minimize the total logistics costs.
MaxLoad Challenge
Students will learn to use an interactive and fun software to optimize the usage of 3-dimensional space, allowing them to appreciate the optimal use of storage spaces in real-life logistics applications.
A Teenage Legal Affair
A half-day workshop where participants learn about the Singapore legal system, the law affecting youths in Singapore and have an interesting encounter with tort law. An interactive hands-on session where participants play an animated Gladiator Game to increase their understanding of the law in a fun way. Participants will take away with them a healthy appreciation of the law which affects their lives.


FOR TEACHERS

Teaching Kopitiam @ NP
A 3-hour workshop on applying diverse IT teaching methods with focus on E-learning, Problem-Based Learning and Service Learning.

Anthropology in Education
A 2-hour workshop for teachers conducted by lecturers from the Tourism & Resort Management course on a pedagogical approach that enhances students' learning through the art of observation.
