Madam Molly Lau had mixed feelings when her employer Cheers sent her back to school as it had been some 40 years since she was last a student.
Although initially apprehensive, she rose to the challenge of getting her diploma in Retail Management at Ngee Ann Polytechnic's (NP) CET Academy.
"I was very fortunate to have the company sponsor my diploma course and I didn't want to let this opportunity go to waste."
For a year she juggled work and studies.
Offered by NP's School of Business & Accountancy, the diploma equips store managers like Madam Lau with the skills to become retail specialists.
Mr Chan Kwan Yew, Director of NP's CET Academy says that "Leveraging on our forte in various fields, NP can readily customise our suite of programmes to suit clients' needs in raising skill levels or retraining staff. This helps companies to improve productivity and stay ahead of competition.
Cheers has engaged NP to conduct 2 more WSQ programmes - the Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision course for its supervisors and the Certificate in Retail Operations.
To meet the demand and enhance the learning experience, NP will set up a retail training studio furnished with cash registers, display shelves and product from Cheers, to simulate a real working environment.
