International Business (IBZ) Diploma students will enjoy practical business training through off-campus learning, internships and study grants for selected students through a Memorandum of Understanding between Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and The Singapore Shippers' Academy (SA).
SA was launched by the Singapore National Shippers' Council in March 2010 as a "trustworthy continuous education and training institution" for the shipping and logistics industry in Singapore, in the words of Mr Ng Kok Lip, Chairman of SA.
The MOU between NP and SA will allow IBZ students to learn International Trade Operations, Shipping Procedures and Trade Agreements from SA trainers. They will benefit from internship positions with member organisations of SNSC, and identified interns may be granted study grants of up to SGD 8,000 each for post-diploma or degree programs, attachment to overseas offices and participation in business mission trips.
NP and SA will also jointly offer an Advanced Diploma in International Business for diploma and degree holders and other continuous education and training programmes such as short courses and workshops.
NP’s tie-up with SA adds to the robust learning platform for IBZ students who will gain practical finer points from an industry perspective and a broader range of overseas study destinations, internship and scholarship opportunities.
This MOU is yet another example of how NP works closely with industry to keep its diploma programmes relevant to the dynamic business landscape.
