The team, calling themselves ‘The H Team’, presented their proposal on DRA Property Management, a five-year plan aimed at raising a budget hotel’s public profile as well as increasing profits to the tune of 50%.  

The team’s proposal was judged by Mr Philip Lee, SMB Solutions Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan; Mr Ryan Chioh, Executive Director, FarEastFlora.com; and Ms Jane Leong, Managing Director, CR Media Pte Ltd. 

The judging criteria were based on four key areas, namely creativity and originality, feasibility and viability, projected potential results, and lastly, teamwork and presentation. The judges commented that the team’s proposal dealt with a real life company and thus was very realistic and appropriate. The display of good teamwork and consistent presentation also contributed to their win.

Apart from receiving certificates for their victory, the team walked away with $15,000 worth of HP products, including a HP Pavillion DV4-1141TX notebook PC for each member.

"I believe the comprehensiveness of the students' entry, as commended by the judges, is because the students are able to deliver a holistic dimension to their solution effectively. This is a reflection of the learning and teaching approach we embrace in the Business IT course," said Mr Lim Shee Chee, Academic Manager of the Diploma in Business IT.
