Introduction

Ready … get set, go – for life in the fast lane as Formula 1 (F1) races into Singapore! The development of Integrated Resorts (IRs) and F1 will change the face of the tourism industry. As tourists pour into Singapore, the tourism industry will experience a boom – leading to a demand for professionals in the hospitality industry. New standards of service and care will be set, and the bar for professionalism in tourism will be raised like never before.

You will acquire the knowledge and skills to be part of this re-making of the tourism industry by enrolling in our Diploma in Tourism & Resort Management (TRM). When you are ready for employment, so will the IRs!

TRM will equip you with appropriate service attitudes, skills and knowledge relevant to tourism and resort management. Our diploma will also help you develop a strong business foundation with a global and entrepreneurial focus. A series of lifestyle appreciation workshops will hone your skills and understanding of the high life! Learn the finer points of fine dining, arts and culture, wine and cheese, golf and grooming! Career Prospects

With the development of the Integrated Resorts and the enhancement of the Marina Bay area, the tourism and resort industry is growing fast. The industry offers TRM graduates many openings in MICE, hospitality, travel, food and beverage, and other tourism-related sectors. Job
opportunities can be found in a wide variety of management positions in sales and marketing, operations, facility planning and development, promotion and public relations,
consultancy and customer service.
Accreditation for Further Studies

Your diploma is accredited with local universities such as the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University and established overseas universities such as Southern Cross University; University of Nevada, Las Vegas; University of Queensland; University of Southern Queensland; and many others. You may be granted relevant module exemptions when pursuing degree courses with them. Many universities in Australia and UK rant at least one year’s exemption to our graduates.

Entry Requirements 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examinations (or equivalent) results:

Subject
“O” Level Grade
English 1–6
Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) 1–6
Any three other subjects excluding CCA 1–6

The aggregate computation for selection is based on grades obtained for English, Mathematics, a Humanities subject (Grade 1-9) and two other subjects.


IS Modules

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) delivers the interdisciplinary curriculum under the Ngee Ann Learning Model (NLM). The NLM was introduced in 2001 to nurture a new generation of professionals with multidisciplinary skills to meet the challenges of a knowledge-based economy. The NLM incorporates core disciplines and Interdisciplinary Studies. It also nurtures innovative and entrepreneurial traits through the Innovation & Enterprise in Action (I & E in Action) module. IS modules challenge boundaries and offer insights into Communication, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills, Media & the Arts, and Science & Technology.
Note: Students enrolled in the course will be required to own Notebook Computers for their studies.
