34 BA Cares student volunteers and their friends responded to
Muhammadiyah Welfare Home (MWH)'s invitation to help in its annual fiesta on
26 and 27 January 2008. The students planned and manned the games stalls and also helped in selling drinks and pizzas. It was
BA Cares' biggest involvement in the annual fiesta to date.
The 5 games - table soccer, "fishing", extinguishing lighted candles, knocking cans off their stands and mini-golf - were well-patronised. In particular, the children were delighted with the "fishing" game, called "Scoopz", which involved scooping small guppy fish out of a big pail at $1 a scoop.
Another popular game was "Fire" in which participants attempted to extinguish lighted candles with a squirter.
Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, the guest of honour at the fiesta and a Member of Parliament for Marine Parade Group Representative Constituency (GRC), completed the game in near record time!
