 Alvin's a SPY!

Alvin Lim, BA’s illustrious graduate from Year 2007 (Diploma in Banking & Financial Services), was chosen from amongst many to become a SPY (Singapore Participating Youth) onboard the 35th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP).

Alvin was a member of the Singapore contingent together with 24 other Singaporean youths. Their involvement in the 35th SSEAYP commenced with team bonding and training in the areas of languages, cultural appreciation and dining etiquette.

After three months of preparation, the Singapore contingent flew to Japan to meet other ASEAN and Japanese youths. The programme kicked off on 21st October 2008 with a 10-day itinerary including among other events the Japan-ASEAN Youth Leaders’ Summit.  An enriching Japanese cultural exchange was also arranged for the contingent through interaction with local youths, institutional visits and a home stay.

On 31st October 2008, the group set sail onboard the Nippon Maru ship and visited many ports-of-call. At each port, the group had the opportunity to interact with local youths, make courtesy calls on dignitaries and conduct institutional visits.  They also engaged in community service and home stay experiences.

Whilst onboard, Alvin was appointed as the Chairperson on the Discussion Steering Committee.  In this capacity Alvin led the planning for many activities and discussions centred on the common theme of “Youth Participation in Social Activities”.

The School sends Alvin its heartiest congratulations on his achievement, and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours!
