Marvin Kang Ping Song (pictured 2nd from left, next to the Minister for the Civil Service, Mr Teo Chee Hean, and the Principal of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Mr Chia Mia Chiang) , an excellent graduate of the
School of Business & Accountancy, who received no fewer than three Outstanding Performance Awards, two overall Academic awards and 12 module prizes and was on the Director’s List for four semesters during his time at the School, has added another feather to his cap by winning a prestigious
Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship. While at the School, Marvin led the team of 5 students who won the
CIMS (Chartered Institute of Marketing Singapore) International Marketing Competition 2007. The achievement was exceptional as the team beat 5 other top local tertiary institutions and 3 international tertiary institutions (one of which comprised MBA students) in the finals.
Marvin was awarded the
Lee Wee Nam Gold Medal & Prize for the
Most Outstanding Graduate of the Diploma in Business Studies during the
Graduation Ceremony 2008. He also delivered the Valedictorian speech on behalf of the School's graduates at the ceremony.
Marvin's many other achievements included establishing the School's most successful student interest group in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and winning the top
MoneySENSible Youth Award (MSYA) in 2007. This is an award given to raise awareness of financial education issues among polytechnic students. Upon his graduation, Marvin was offered the bond-free NUS Global Merit Scholarship and the PSC Scholarship. He opted for the latter.
