The Ngee Ann water polo club which consisted of many BA students bought glory to Ngee Ann by winning the recent POL-ITE water polo games. Indahsuria bte Mokhtar, a Diploma in Banking & Financial Services graduate of the School of Business & Accountancy now pursuing further studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), has received an Anugerah Mendaki. Banking & Financial Services Diploma student, Tok Hwee Yee Michelle, wins the Friend of Singa Award 2008 for being a most courteous student. BFS Alumni Jerry Chua received a prestigious Sword of Honour from Deputy Prime Minister Mr Wong Kan Seng together with his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Republic of Singapore Air Force on 14 June 2008 at the SAFTI Military Institute. Alvin Lim Shan Jia, a graduate of the School of Business & Accountancy (Diploma in Banking & Financial Services 2007) has just been awarded the Youth Venturer Award for Stars of SHINE 2008. Marvin Kang Ping Song, Diploma in Business Studies 2008, wins a prestigious Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship. Casper Peh, Vincent Wang and Alvin Yap, 3 graduates of the Class of 2006 in the Diploma in Business Studies (Entrepreneurship), came out tops in Start-Up@Singapore 2008.
Sue Tan receiving an MOE award and meeting the President of Singapore Hemalatha Arudas, a 2nd-year Diploma in Banking and Financial Services (BFS) student, balances a place on the National hockey team with good academic performance despite a disadvantaged family background. Alvin Lee, a 3rd year Diploma in Banking & Financial Services (BFS) student, wins a contest organised by Aljunied GRC for proposals to house 4 large sections of the Berlin Wall in Bedok Reservoir Park. Three BA students taste virtual stocks and futures investments success in Citibank Stock Challenge and Ong First Futures World Challenge. BA students Oun Kai Hiong and Koo Sheng Kiat, from the Diploma in BIT, won 1 of the 5 possible consolation prizes at the National Website Design Competition 2008 on the Commonwealth, organised by the National Youth Achievement Award Council. Choy Ning Zhen, a student in the School's Diploma in Tourism and Resort Management programme, is awarded "Best Front Office Trainee" at Rasa Sentosa resort. A team of students from the School of Business & Accountancy emerged as Champions in the Singapore HR Challenge 2008. Staff of the School of Business & Accountancy have won an Academic Award (Development) and a Special Mention for their work on the International Business Study Mission and Accountancy Practical Training modules. |
