1. What is the entry requirement for the courses in Ngee Ann Polytechnic?
The polytechnic offers various technology and non-technology diploma courses. In general, to apply for most technology courses, you must have obtained a minimum grade of D7 for English and C6 for Mathematics and a relevant Science subject. To apply for most non-technology courses, you must have obtained a minimum grade of C6 for English, Mathematics and 3 other subjects (excluding CCA). In addition, interviews, written tests, folios of design work or sponsorship may be required for some courses. The selection of applicants for courses is based on academic merit and order of choices. For specific entry requirements, please refer to our course brochure or website. The computation of aggregate for selection into courses is based on grades obtained for English, 2 relevant subjects (R2) and 2 other best subjects (B2), excluding CCA (ELR2B2).
2. What are the relevant 2 subjects (R2) and best 2 subjects (B2) for the courses offered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic?
The courses are grouped into 4 ELR2B2 categories, A, B, C & D. Computation of aggregate is based on 5 subjects including English Language, 2 relevant and 2 best other subjects. The 2 groups of relevant subjects for each ELR2B2 category is shown in the table below.

3. If I attain a D7 or worse grade in Mathematics, can I apply for any course?
If you scored a D7 in Mathematics, you are only eligible to apply for the following diploma courses:
• Advertising & Public Relations,
• Animation & 3D Arts
• Chinese Media & Communication,
• Child Psychology & Early Education,
• Chinese Studies,
• Digital Visual Effects,
• Early Childhood Education,
• Film, Sound & Video,
• Mass Communication,
• Psychology Studies
provided you meet the courses' entry requirements
Otherwise, you are advised to retake Mathematics, combine results of not more than 2 sittings and apply to us in the following year. Alternatively, you may apply for ITE courses and use your ITE qualifications to apply for admission to our courses upon graduation from ITE.
4. Are there any medical or special requirements for entry into the polytechnic courses?
Different courses have different medical requirements. Unless otherwise stated, successful applicants must provide a self declaration of their medical health status upon enrolment.
International applicants are also required to submit a medical report to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) for the application of a student pass. The offer of a course in the Polytechnic is subject to the approval of a student pass by ICA.
