Ngee Ann Polytechnic offers mainly diploma and advanced diploma courses. However, we do have tie-ups with foreign specialised institutes to offer certain degree courses. More details are available on the NP website.

2. Can I transfer between institutions at a later stage?

If you are currently enrolled or were previously enrolled in an institution, be it a junior college, centralised institute, polytechnic or the Institute of Technical Education in a previous JAE and you wish to seek admission to an institution of the same type, you must reapply to the institution concerned and not through the JAE.

3. What is the meaning of "former polytechnic students"? Does this refer to diploma holders?

No, the term "former polytechnic students" in our context refers to students who left the polytechnic without completing their diploma programme.

4. What is the Mobile e-Learning Scheme?

The Ngee Ann Mobile E-Learning Scheme was started in July 1999. Students on this scheme use Notebook computers to enhance their learning.

The Notebook will enable students to work on their assignments, surf the internet for information, access module websites, participate in on-line discussions and to communicate with their tutors and classmates through e-mail at their convenience, both on and off campus. In other words, students can study anytime, anywhere.

Please go to http://mel.np.edu.sg for more details.

5. How is the academic year structured?

The academic year consists of 2 semesters. The April semester ends in August while the October semester ends in February. Common tests and examinations are held once in each semester.

6. Does the Polytechnic incorporate industrial training/attachment as a compulsory component of the curriculum?

As polytechnic courses are practice-oriented, industrial training/attachment is a compulsory component of the curriculum. This is usually scheduled during the second or third year of study and students spend between 4 to 6 months on attachment.

7. What is the average time a polytechnic student spends on the campus everyday?

The amount of time a student spends on campus varies from course to course. On average, they spend about 25-30 hours a week attending lectures, tutorials and practicals. In addition, many students remain on campus after classes for sports, other recreational activities and self-study.
