The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted annually by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to allow holders of Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level holders to apply for admission to courses offered by Junior Colleges, the Millennia Institute, Polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

 |
Applicant Eligibility |
You are eligible under JAE 2013 if you are one of the following:
● Singaporeans or Permanent Residents (PR) with Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' level results of 2012 or earlier years.
● Non-Singaporeans or Non PRs from a government, government-aided and independent school (excluding private schools) with Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' level results of 2012.
Note: Applicants under the JAE must not have been enrolled at any of the local polytechnics before.
 |
Application Period |
● 10 Jan 2013, 3pm - 14 Jan 2013, 4pm
 |
Application Mode |
Apply online through the Joint Admissions Exercise Internet System (JAE-IS)
 |
Application Procedure |
Current 'O' level holders who are eligible to participate in the JAE require the JAE PIN to access JAE-IS. The JAE PIN is stated in Form A, which you will received from your secondary school or by post (for private candidates) on the day of release of the 'O' level results.
Applicants with previous years 'O' level results, who are eligible to participate in the JAE, will require a SingPass to access the JAE-IS. You are required to submit a request for the system to generate a list of eligible courses, which you will receive 6 hours later before submitting an application.
Visit the SingPass website for more information and find out how to request for a SingPass.
Applicants are allowed to submit up to a maximum of 12 courses for which they are eligible.
Information on the courses and instructions for application can be found in the JAE Information Booklet from your secondary school. An on-line version of JAE Information Booklet is available here

Selection Process |
Applicants are posted to a course based on merit first according to their net ELR2B2 aggregate scores (taking into account the CCA bonus points for which the applicants are eligible for).
Applicant with better net aggregate [with the exception of Nanyang Polytechnic’s Diploma in Nursing and our Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) will be considered for admission first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected course. If there is no more vacancy, then the applicant will be considered for his/her next choice course(s).
Applicants with the same net aggregate score vying for the last place in a course will be posted based on their citizenship followed by their gross aggregate score. The posting of candidates with the same gross aggregate score will be determined by a computerised ballot where each candidate is given an equal opportunity.
However, applicants who indicate either the Nanyang Polytechnic’s Diploma in Nursing or our Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) as their first choice course will be given priority consideration if their aggregate of ELR2B2-C meets the pre- determined cut-off for the year.
