Every year, graduation awards are given out to students who have completed and excelled in their course of study.
Polytechnic Level Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal
The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal is awarded each year to the most outstanding graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The recipient is selected from the top graduates of the various Academic Schools. The medal, first presented in 1980, is funded by Ngee Ann Kongsi, a foundation that is actively involved in educational, cultural and welfare activities in Singapore. The recipient will receive a gold medal, $10,000 cash and a bond-free scholarship that covers the full tuition fees at any university, local or overseas, to pursue an undergraduate degree programme. Lee Kuan Yew Award
The Lee Kuan Yew Award is awarded to the most outstanding graduate from a technology course in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The award was first presented in 1992 and is funded by the Minister Mentor, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Mr Lee donated the honorarium that he received from various overseas speaking engagements and from the funds raised from a special edition of his memoirs. The recipient will receive a gold medal (plated) and $400 cash. Tay Eng Soon Gold Medal
The Tay Eng Soon Gold Medal is awarded each year to the most outstanding graduate formerly from an Institute of Technical Education. The Gold Medal was first awarded in 1994. It is funded by the Tay Eng Soon Scholarship Fund set up in honour and memory of the late Senior Minister of State for Education, Dr Tay Eng Soon. The recipient will receive a gold medal (plated) and $900 cash. Lien Ying Chow Gold Medal
The Lien Ying Chow Gold Medal is awarded to the most outstanding graduate from a non-technology course in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. First awarded in 1998, it is funded through the generous contribution of the late Dr Lien Ying Chow, Chairman of the Lien Foundation. Dr Lien was the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the then Ngee Ann College from 1962 to 1965. The recipient will receive a gold medal (plated) and $800 cash. Ngee Ann Polytechnic Outstanding Achievement Award
The Ngee Ann Polytechnic Outstanding Achievement Award is a premier award for all-round excellence. It is presented to a select group of 5 to 10 top graduates from each graduating batch of more than 4,500 students. The award is presented for the first time in 2010. The recipient will receive $2000 cash. School Level
Gold and Silver Medals
Gold and silver medals are awarded to the most outstanding and next most outstanding graduates of the courses respectively, in terms of both academic performance and CCA participation. To qualify for a gold or silver medal, students must obtain overall academic performance preferably with cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, and Commendable CCA record preferably with at least a Bronze certificate of achievement in CCA. Prizes for Academic Performance are awarded to graduates with the most outstanding and the next most outstanding academic performance in each course. Prizes are awarded purely on academic merit, not CCA performance. Module Prizes
Module prizes are awarded to graduates with the most outstanding performance in the respective modules of their courses. Diplomas with Merit
Diplomas with Merit are awarded to the top 10 per cent of the graduating students for each course. To qualify for diploma with merit, student must obtain a cumulative GPA of preferably 3.5 or higher.
