Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (N40)

About the Diploma

New hotel and leisure facilities such as the Marina Bay Sands, Resorts World Sentosa, ION Orchard and Orchard Central are not only unique in their design, but are also sophisticated in their operations with the extensive use of new technology.

The industry needs a new breed of Facility Managers to manage these modern facilities. Dynamic and tech-savvy, these Facility Managers will have to understand consumer psyche and know what needs to be done to deliver good customer service. 

With the Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (HLFM), you will gain the skills and experience to do just this. HLFM is unique as it covers the disciplines of both facilities management and hotel management. You will get the chance to work with organisations such as Resorts World Sentosa, Raffles City Hotels, Frasers Hospitality, AsiaMalls Management and CapitaMall Trust. 

You will also learn to apply knowledge in areas such as green building technology, building automation and building performance simulation when managing modern hospitality services. 

Upon graduation, you will also be awarded a Fire Safety Manager Certificate which will allow you to be registered as a qualified Fire Safety Manager.

Many luxurious hotels and mega-sized leisure facilities are being built in Singapore and you can look forward to working in these prestigious facilities. 

You can work as a facility manager, project manager, environmental consultant, property and workplace planner, or business development executive.

With your training in both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house operations, you will have an added advantage in gaining employment in the hotel and hospitality industry.
Further Studies

You will be able to continue your education by pursuing a degree in Project & Facilities Management at the National University of Singapore.

Various overseas universities in Australia, the UK and the United States also offer advanced standing to our graduates when they apply for related degree courses.

HLFM graduates can also enrol into hospitality or business degree courses offered locally or overseas.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results.

Science (with Physics, Chemistry or Biology component)
or Computer Studies
or Design & Technology
or Fundamentals of Electronics

You must also fulfil the aggregate computation requirements.

* Candidates with English as a second language must have attained a minimum grade of 6.

Candidates with hearing deficiency or severe vision deficiency should not apply for the course. Those with colour appreciation deficiency may be considered subject to an in-house test.

^  Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) modules at Ngee Ann help students become more versatile and competitive by expanding their knowledge and skills beyond their core disciplines. Areas covered include communication, entrepreneurship, lifeskills, media and the arts, and science and technology.


Diploma Plus Programme

Students can opt to take additional modules from a wide range of clusters under the Diploma Plus Programme (DPP) to further enhance and/or broaden their knowledge in a variety of discipline specific areas based on their interests and learning abilities. The Diploma Plus Certificate helps students if they wish to pursue a university degree or increase their employability in discipline-specific areas.

Students can choose the DPP clusters from the range listed below. The offer of a DPP cluster is subject to the condition that the minimum class size is met and based on available vacancies. 

 

Non-Engineering Clusters
*  Designed in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). The syllabus is based on the first-year engineering mathematics and science curricula of NUS.
